What is Angel Food Ministries?

Angel Food is a non-profit, non-denominational ministry dedicated to providing food relief all over the U.S.

What is the cost of the food?

A box of Angel Food can be purchased for $30. Depending on your location, a box has an average retail value of right around $60.  Angel Food also offers specials each month that range in price from $22 to $35.  These special boxes may include a variety of Fruit & Veggies, Seafood, Chicken, etc. 

Will I see the food list in advance?

Yes. A new menu comes out every month. Check the NSF website for an updated menu.

What is the quality of the food? 

Because of Angel Foods involvement with only the best producers and vendors, our products are high quality, "name brand" foods - never "seconds" or "day old type" products.

Who supplies the food?

Each months food menu consists of both fresh and frozen items. Suppliers include:

How much food may I purchase?

There is no limit on the number of boxes an individual or family may purchase. Angel Food Ministries also offers the purchase of one or more "Special Boxes" when buying a regular box of food. The "Specials" are mostly savings on meat boxes. (Special #1: 4lb. Steak Box or Special #2 8 - 8oz. Rib Eye Steaks for $20.00.) Often there is a box of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Who can participate?

There is no monthly or yearly box limit at all. There are no applications or qualifications. Angel Food Ministries does participate in the U.S. Food Stamp Program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher System. With Angel Food, food stamp customers get about twice the value for their grocery dollars.

Where do I pick up my order?

On "Distribution Saturday" you can pick up your food at North Shore Fellowship, 118 Woodland Avenue at the time specified on the monthly menu.

Is this an Outreach Ministry?

Yes. As a host church, North Shore is providing economic relief as a practical, non-threatening, but life-giving service. We are connecting with the community as people return each month to receive their food. Often customers bring friends and relatives, and our church is able to touch the visitors with the compassion of Jesus in a very real and genuine way.

How successful is the program?

Between 400,000 and 500,000 units are distributed throughout 34 states every month. Since January 1995, over 8.1 million families have been affected by Angel Food Ministries.

How can I participate?

1. Spread the word that Angel Food is available here at North Shore.
2. Buy a box for yourself or someone you know.
3. Sponsor a box for someone in need who contacts the church.
4. Pick up monthly fliers to pass out at workplaces, laundromats, thrift shops and other places you choose.
5. Come help us on the morning of Distribution Saturday.
